Default Is there an idle adjust screw?

Have high idle speed at all times that I cannot resolve so far. Is there an idle adjust screw on the 96 XJS? Just pulled radiator and had it cleaned, but I need to fix the idle so I can tell if I have a temp problem.

I don't think there is on your car. Was it idling high prior to removal of the radiator? I'm thinking vacuum leak.

It is most probably something that can be fixed by any Jaguar repair shop with a PDU, or WDS system. They need to reset the parameters.

I would first check for a vacuum leak, i suppose. Trust me, just take it to a Jag shop and pay them the stinking $150 to do it.

Oh, apparently there is an idle adjustment screw on some manifolds. My cars were 0-2, so I never had one, but there are others on this site who have sent me pics.

Search my previous posts on my idle issues. I changed everything there was to to change, only the shop with the computer was able to cure the issue.

Thanks for the suggestion. Since the nearest Jag shop is two hours away, I am trying to figure out all I can locally first. Hard to drive a long distance with such a high idle.

Call ahead, make an appointment or something. Go on a slow day. It will take them 30 minutes. It will be your only cure.

If you check my previous posts, you'll see that I have replaced everything hoping to find a cure I could handle myself. No luck.

Thanks for your input. Took your advice. They checked it out all day, could not find anything. Did some more digging myself and found the throttle cable is frayed. Have posted new thread to help me find one to replace it. The process continues...

No way?!?! They hooked it up to the Computer, reset the parameters and that did not clear the problem?

On top of that, they couldn't find what the problem was?!?!

Bad shop or bad problem... I could give you a whole list of parts to swap out, but I would think that the shop you took it to would have narrowed it down, so I'm not sure that's going to help.

Is the engine in the proper RPM range in gear?

Lionrod, I had a high idle on my '96 4.0 and a new EGR valve fixed it. It definitely fixed the problem. Probably stuck open a little due to age.
Luck, RagJag
