Default Thermostats...

hi there!

My XJ-S V12 will be getting some new thermostats this weekend. New 82 degrees as it is catfree...

After comparing the OEM with originals, the originals have a little valve at the top. The OEMs don't. Is this really important to have? None of my other cars have had this kind ofvalve in the thermostat. Is this just a medievil survivor of postwar times or do they really need these valves?

Can I fit the new thermostats without worrying?

Cheers

Damiem

"Jiggle pin"

The pin itself isn't so important but the holes is. Drill the hole yourself if needed.

Also.....

Make sure the new thermostats are the same length and have the bypass disc at the rear

Cheers

Cheers Doug! Now I know what that little pin is called. I was thinking of drilling a little hole...

Thanks again!

Damiem,

If they don't have the jiggle pin, are you sure they are proper OEM items and not cheaper pattern parts?

Hey,

yes, they are from Jaguar. Purchased them from my "local" (about 15 miles away) Jaguar dealer. They wanted me to take some 89°C thermostats... But I insisted (no cat) on 82°C.

They carry a Jaguar stamp and the EAC or what ever number it was again

And I don't know how, but I managed to spell my own name wrong... Damien... Not DamieM

Cheers

Damien

By accident, I noticed that a little line was stamped in the stats... This shows a little crease in the body where a little vent is visible. So they are vented as it sounds... Then I withdraw my "complaint"

Please make sure you put those vents at the 12 O, clock position!
