Default Trip computer wiring?

Does anyone know if my 96 XJS Convertible (just uploaded story and pics in new members) will have the trip computer wiring and socket already installed to fit a trip computer to as my car doesn't have one fitted?

Kev

@Kev

I always naively assumed that the later cars had the fuel info somewhere else, and that's why there is only a clock in the center of the dash..... That's kind of naff that this feature was just deleted. I need my fuel computer as my fuel gauge isn't to be trusted. Will be interesting to see if you can retrofit it.

In case you need the parts, search for "XJS" on the Los Angeles region of Craigslist...... There's a great guy in Sun Valley who parts XJSes

Yes, I removed the clock and have the trip computer instead. The plug is back there. Pop out the clock and see for yourself. It's there.

All you will need to do is replace the wood clock panel with the wood computer panel and install the computer to the existing wiring harness plug. The same plug your colck is connected to now. The computer has two threaded holes on each side for the mounting screws. mounts are there behind the new panel not part of the panel but part of the body of the car. I purchased the computer panel from Paul's Jaguar in Ft. Lauderdale FL for $42.00 he still has some more and they are "nos".

Sorry to re-kindle this thread...

Does anyone know whether retro-fitting a trip computer to my 1994 XJS 4.0L will allow me to read fault codes if they ever arise?
