Trip-odometer stalls at 49.9
My recently purchased 1995 XJS 4.0L does not seem to want the trip-odometer to go past 49.9 -- and some other (lower) numbers also. Is this a problem with the mechanical gears inside the dashboard numbers unit? Or, because it also stymied on some other numbers, could it be a stressed cable or a problem with the mechanism plugged into the transmission (or whatever)?
Of course, I can live w/o a trip-odometer, but I like to keep everything working (one issue unresolved leads to lots of issues pretty soon), and besides, it's an easy way to account for trip distances and gas mileage.
I'm hoping for a simple fix -- I tried fast-pressing the set button. Thanks for giving this any possible thought.
