Default Trying to help a friend, like a son.

Stopped at a friends house tonight and he was showing me around some of his to do projects.
Couple of things of interest, a early MK 2 and a H&E XJS V12, ran sweet. He wanted me to paint it, highly metallic, and he was not familiar with that type.
It seems to be a gun metal color, so he is going original. Paint is good enough to sand, seal and paint, top folds all the way down out of the way and has the two gas tanks.
He has the right color hides to do the seats, but alas the top was ripped and the seats section was wet so the seat needs a tinplate to get the right size.
Anyway someone has one of these cars and could send a outline?
Be glad to pay for the mailing and time.
We are hoping to get a great car out this, I'm guessing they are a bit rare.

Thanks for your time and any odd stuff about these cars would be a big help.

Didn't get any pictures, next time.

Hi Sounds like you've got an Hess and Eisenhardt Convertible around 1988

So this may come in useful: https://www.convertibletopguys.com/c...dt-Conversion-

Thanks and he has a new top plus the hides to redo the seats and all the veneer has been done. This guy does great work, hope I can paint it to his satisfaction.
He does have a paint booth, but full of cars and motors, what a shame. I myself am a bit annul but have come to learn, a perfect paint job comes after the paint is on the car, with sanding and buffing. Unless you have a sealed room, which I don't. He wants BCCC, that's lots of coats, more things to go wrong on that much car.
Should be lots of fun.
He loves the car, so it's not a money maker, but most of us are not into that.

It's keeping those dam bugs off the paint that's the problem. I painted mine in my garage and spent 2 days prepping the garage, to seal it and keep the bugs out. I did this at 3 times.

There are 2 different types of seats used in the XJS and the covers are NOT interchangeable and the X over was in 1988, so you will need to know if you have the early style seat or later Recaro style steat

Warren, Just talked to him and found out it's a '88, so it could be either.
He is sending pictures, so I need to figure out how to get them off the phone and onto this forum.
"Honey are you doing anything", no rush not sent yet.
Thanks Warren, I'll get back with you.

From that interior shot you have the early type seats; which should also mean Lucas ignition and Delanaire mark II aircon.

Greg, good information, now to get the measurements of the seats. These have sunk so bad just not a good idea to follow the pattern.
I think he said he had the foam or could make it, to much to see in his place..
SL 55 AMG
SLK 350
740IL?
BN7 Austin Healey
Jensen Healey
Jaguar MK II French Embassy Car back in the day
88 Jaguar XJS H&E
Lotus Esprit
and my favorite BMW 840 Coupe
His wife drives a Merc diesel. They just went to the beach (200 miles away), ran around and back 750 miles, one tank of gas. Why am I driving a F150 as a daily. I need help.
OK Guys, any help with some measurements would be a big help.
He's like me, hard to sell something you have your heart and soul in.
