Default Undertray and Spoiler - How Necessary Are They?

I have a chance to buy both for just over $500...new.

Are they really necessary - does the spoiler REALLY assist in cooling that much?

I see alot of these cars without them.

The undertray and air dam help with the cooling. The air dam forces air up through the lower radiator grill. The undertray guides it to the radiator. I wouldn't leave them off on a V12. If you do, that is where the radiator won't be sufficiently cooling the coolant, leading to potential cooling problems.

They are essential. High speed stability is FAR better with them. buy them and fit them, say I.

OP is located in US. High speed is not really an option...

I will say the spoiler is essential for the correct look. Can't imagine how it looks without it...

I do no have the undertray, but I have made a temporary thin plywood plate supporting the spoiler at the centre, 50 cm wide. Otherwise the spoiler bends back when going +150 kmh. In a few years we can discuss if it's really temporary, but at least the plan is to make and fit a DIY undertray

High speed is not an issue in Australia either.

I ran around for 2 years with no front spoiler or undertray in +40C summer temps with no overheating issues. Mostly because I could not find a replacement in Aus. Ended up replacing with TWR front bar.

The front spoiler is also there to reduce front end lift at high speed; probably only applicable on German autobahns.

You guys are aware, that even at say 80 kph/50 mph, the spoiler aids with lift reduction... I mean,. that isn't high speed as per the word, but it is higher than walking...
