From an MIT study on secondary air injection:

"Of the four
engine conditions tested, three of them resulted in a peak CO reduction of 95% or
greater. "

"Particle matter reductions correlated well with exhaust energy release. This is an
interesting result that indicates PM reduction is related to the amount of oxidation
that occurs within the exhaust."

I get that the stock exhaust is restrictive, change the cat out for a new high flow if you need to, but most people aren't going to notice or need it driving around at the speed limit, same goes for the air pump.

Tossing it because it died and you don't have the money to replace it is one thing, but anyone going out of their way to harm the environment for a negligible power increase and then claiming there is no environmental impact is a bit much.

 

I completely understand your point of view, and maybe you are wealthy enough to do what you preach.
My 94 has six cats that will cost me $2K parts and labor to replace. I am not willing to do that for a car I drive only 1K miles a year. I love the car and want to keep it, so I will do what I can afford to keep it in good shape. There are a lot of others on this Forum that have removed emissions according to the many threads on the subject.
I have also learned that once a thread gets off topic, I should get out of it. So this will be my last post on this thread.
