Default Unknown red light near shifter

Hi all, I recently bought a 1985 XJS and ran into a question that my shop manual couldn't answer. There's a red light just in front of the shifter in the center of the panel. I looked for diagrams but nothing I have shows it or talks about it.

The car has been converted to a Chevy engine and transmission, so I'm starting to think it's part of that. The light comes on sometimes after driving for a while (usually around +10 minutes) and stays on until the car is turned off.

Any ideas?

A picture would be helpful, but I suspect it was an add-on by whoever did the conversion. What it does is anyones guess.

I'll grab a picture in a little bit here, but its just an unmarked red light right in front center of that panel with the shifter. Maybe I'll take the panel off and see if I can get any idea from that.

Yup, definitely not factory. Malfunctioning aftermarket alarm LED is the first thing that comes to mind, but who knows...

If you have an electric fan fitted by the engine swap guy, this might be a "fan on" warning light.
