Default v12 performance

the fans arrived Monday but couldn't get the thermo switch connected due to proximity of the fans and fattish arms but got them wired today to the switch in the end by bending the terminals outward, went for the annual mot test in heavy traffic
on a hot day today and the temperature never went above 180f , i have them wired so there is either none on or both running through the thermo switch
and have rewired the blue diode relay so they run all the time on shut down till the thermo switch turns them off, which is a lot shorter than it was with
the setup i had, (a 14" and 12" strapped straight on the core previous traffic temp 210f with this setup) so all in all, a great upgrade that i am very pleased with. I have previously fitted 115 amp alternator to cover the discharge and a hi torque starter which will happily run on 9 volts.

Good for you RGP. A really successful mod. FWIW, I think you might consider wiring one fan so it always runs when the aircon is on.

My local aircon guy, really good, does the French and various african railways when they have an insoluble problem, and all sorts too, told me that I should turn on my main fan using my manual over-ride switch (12 and 17 inch fans, 12 always on with the aircon) whenever the car is in traffic. When he last re-gassed the aircon using his magic aircon machine, he showed me the temp and pressure difference when the main fan was on and off. It made a huge difference, even though the 12 inch fan was running all the time.

But really pleased that the new setup has done the job.

thanks Greg
although I have altered the diode thing they will now both operate when the aircon is switched on, or when the thermo switch tells them but will also run on when the ignition is off, so next job is air con re-gas, I hadn't bothered for a couple of years as I was forever removing bits for different jobs, so probably next year now

Even better, I had read your original post to mean that none were on unless the temp switch asked for them, apologies. No need to change anything. Nice looking installation, too. Just in case you did not realise, it is important to put in a new dryer when you regas, they are not very dear, either.
