Waterless antifreeze?
I guess I am a little late to the party but I had never heard of it until I caught an episode of Wheeler Dealers where they were working on a Triumph TR6. The idea sounds great as the boiling point goes way up over the regular mix but the thing I was most interested in was the elimination of internal corrosion in the engine. I have a 93 XJS with the AJ6 engine and I have heard of head gasket problems with this motor due mostly to corrosion between the head and the block. The downside to it seems to be the price ($40.00 a gallon) and the fact that you have to remove all the water from the system. For those of us that our cars sit in the garage over the winter, a non corrosive (and non toxic) formula seems to be a good idea. Evans seems to be one of the brands available and they even interview Jay Leno as he has used it for quite a while on some of his collector cars. Any thoughts on this product or do any of you have experience with it already?
works great EVANS, used it for 8yrs in my RX7, no corrosion when i changed a water pump, absolutly no rust or sediment, also used it in my BBC Camaro, never any over heat, 375* boil point.
i want to put it in my V12, but as you say it is expensive, but i will do it soon.
it was developed for cooling hydralic systems in Black Hawks, for extreme temps when running combat missions, and cant back off.
a drawback is it is slippery if you blow a hose or something, and it gets on tires.
