I would certainly refresh the coolant. Some would also say replace the thermostat....

Make certain your chosen coolant meets the required specs as published in your owners manual. Using the wrong coolant in these cars is a recipe for gelling and eventual engine overheating and destruction....

while the miles are low the car is more or less 15 years old. I would do it.

Depending on VIN, it should be due its third or fourth change!

Having it changed next week by my mechanic. Also had(past tense) trouble with the cooling fans coming on too much ... took the rad shield off ...voila rads were plugged with bugs and assorted scmutz...good rinse with water ....problem gone. This pearl was from another post...Thanks to all

Default Antifreeze/coolant whatever

GRAHAM
My indie mechanic did the "LONG OVERDUE COOLANT/ANTIFEEZE" flush. Swap with a new T-Stat needed to be done..... seems to have been the definitive cure for the highspeed fan running on. He claims he has seen this issue resolve by the T-Stat swap on some Bimmers and Benzes in his care. Thanks for the good humor poke Graham. Good to have a little levity in the posts. T-Stats can stick intermittently and F@@3$#!up the coolant transfer>>>confusing the fan module. Just saying.
All the best to all. Paul Smith

If it is DexCool, it does indeed meet the necessary specs....

Yes it was DexCool. I did plush my system fairly well anyways, so there is not mixing that much of two diff orange types if that were the case.
I did my hose and wp fixes at diff times, stupid me, so That system got a lot of new coolant with those repairs. Lets see. I did the octopus hose and resvior, and tstat housing. Then later did the valley hoses, then the WP went. Now I see a razor blade type of cut in the LOWER rad hose so I have to replace that again, and more fluid again.
