Hi Jig Jag

What make and model of electric Fan is that, was it a straight swap out of the box for the mechanical fan or did you have to chop it about to make it fit in the shroud.

I'm using the Derale 18217. I did have to trim the mounting ears to fit it inside of the OEM shroud. Pretty simple to mount this one, but definitely not out-of-the-box.

Removed the front half of the ears to make room for a rubber eFan-to-Jag-shroud air seal.

Cut it to height to fit snug within the Jag shroud.

It is a press fit into the shroud and 4 #10 x 5/8" Stainless Phillips head screws go through the shroud and into the mounting ears to hold it very firmly in place.

Hi Jig Jag

Now that's a really clever idea, which I like very much but how cool does it keep your Car and does it make any 'Weird' Noises.

I've just gone back to Mechanical Fans but your set up just looks so good, that I would say 'Never Say Never'

As if that can cope with USA Temps, it should easily cope with our inclement Weather.

Thanks Orangeblossom! I was trying to make it look as OEM as possible. Pretty pleased when my girl saw it in the shroud and asked "so this is your old one?"

Only a little testing so far, my normal commute in this morning and celebratory steaks and drinks last night.

Dead steady at the lower edge of the "N". I run 83C t-stats.

Temp gauge does not move from from this location. Stopped in traffic, cruising along, ******* it pretty hard, steady as a rock.

It is silent. I currently have it set up to be on with ignition. Wanted to get it operable before getting fancy. So, when I shut it down in the silent parking garage after my drive in today I switched it back to on to let it run a few seconds after shutdown. I had to toggle it twice before I was convinced that it was actually running. It's very quiet!

All this is just on the low setting! I'll hook the high side up triggered by the OEM aux fan circuit, giving me high temp protection as well as A/C triggering and run-after when hot.

The high speed setting bumps the CFM from 1800 to 2400! Lots of headroom for those occasional 41C August days.

It stayed at this temp reading.

Hi Jig Jag

That looks Amazing! and I'd definitely consider one, if I didn't have to spend £800 on New Tyres.
plus loads of other essential bits and pieces.

Dang! I got mine from Summit for $130. Am I doing the conversion wrong or are there some extra costs involved for export?

Hi Jig Jag

The Delivery Charge + Duty + Taxes from the USA to the UK is about £70 plus the cost of the Fan

£103 and if you include the Controller (don't know if that's needed?) 'The Ball Park' is £200

Having said that, I think you may have found the 'Holy Grail' especially if its Silent and doesn't draw

too much juice.

Ah! Well that makes sense.

I did purchase a controller as well, though you could just use a heavy duty relay if you're setting it up for always-on. You'd need 2 if you want to use both low and high speed options.

I went with a Spal fan controller as it offered a screw-in temp switch as opposed to most having through the radiator or shove-it-in-a hose joint sensors. I don't know if I'll use the temp switch, or just replace my OEM temp switch with one that works properly. Mine comes on at 98C despite being labeled 85C.
