Default What is she worth?

Time has come to part with my 1995 AJ16 powered XJS. Has a little over 21,000 miles. It has been well maintained in the 4 years I have owned it. Brakes refurbished with rebuilt front calipers, twice bled and new Ferodo pads and Brembo rotors. Bilstein sport shocks installed a few thousand miles ago and alignment. New hoses and belts. Car had original tires on it when I bought it and they were replaced with new Pirelli's. Woman who owned it before me hardly ever drove it and I'm finding myself in the same position.

Some cosmetic issues but runs great. Dent in the left rear quarter panel that is noticeable and the hood could use some work and alignment.

Have service records, autocheck, original Ebay listing, and original window sticker.

Just don't drive it anymore. Used to take it to work on Fridays but I retired and it just sits.

I have no idea what to ask for it. Listings I see are all over the place and there aren't many with so little mileage. I can take more pictures if it would help. Thanks.

I’ve never seen higher selling prices for XJS than at bringatrailer.com. Consider listing it there. Expect $10k, be ecstatic with $15k. Look at eBay SOLD auctions and the prices are very disappointing. Just got a cosmetically beautiful 92 V12 Coupe with 90k for. $3500 so I’m putting a huge premium on the miles and that lovely sage green color.

Default No not in a FLOOD

Safely locked in the garage. House didn't flood and I don't even drive it in a light rain.

beautiful car! I think the perception right now from people who don't live in your area is that most every car in Houston suffered some type of flood damage. As someone who lives in an area impacted by hurricanes, I know that's not true....BUT I would actually wait a year or 2 as you will be fighting this assumption if you market nationally or internationally (which you should do).

The AJ16 engine could fetch a $2000 to $3000 premium over comparable V12s. There are not many of them on the market.

I thought the 6.0 v12 was the engine that could bring in a premium....

Here in the USA I would check Hemmings for starters, lot of these sellers are dreamers though. Then I would start following the auctions. This is probably the best indicator of value. IMO I think the bigger auctions is where you MIGHT get "close" to a realistic price for your car. Auctions do have draw backs, figure about $1K to enter, expenses & get your car there & the fun or inconvenience, depending how you look @ it. It's a GAMBLE ! You might win or come home with -$1K and your XJS.

It sure does look nice. And the miles are a great feature. But, only to an extent.

Time has taken it's toll. Brake work at 20 K ?

Under the bonnett fuel lines are in for replacement. Safety vs time.

Yes, just search values in as many places as possible for comparables.
The essence of appraisal.

Or, keep it !!! Retirement means more time to play with the toys!!! I've been having a ball !! No rocking chair for me. But, some chair time does feel good!!!

I'm slowing down, though. I'll see four score and eight this week.

Carl

As to engines. Dependable vs "romantic".
