Default Where to get a new radiator

Silly question. I'm having a heck of a time finding a company that sells a drop in radiator. The only thing I came close to finding is a 900 dollar polished monstrosity through Summit. Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Have you tried a Jag specialist such as Coventry West or Motorcars Ltd?

Cheers

There's a couple on Ebay. Search "Jaguar XJS Radiator".

Can yours be repaired? Have you taken it to a radiator shop?

Cheers

I'd like the milkshake if it were real and in my belly!

My Dad and I brainstormed and we figured out a way to re-use my current radiator. Thanks for the link, Rick, that's perfect. I'll keep that in mind if my Rube Goldberg setup fails me.

Basically, the tranny fluid was mixing with the coolant in the radiator. So, I looped the tranny lines on the radiator into itself, and installed an external transmission cooler. Problem solved for about sixty bucks! And twelve hours of labor! Time for a real milkshake.

This is how I felt until I started poking around. The transmission cools it's fluid through the radiator; they're in a separate piping but in the same radiator. Radiator damage can cause these two systems to mix, or in my case, old age did the trick.

Thats a first for me.... never heard of trans fluid cooling "in" the Radiator... seems the Jag team must have had a brain storm and came up with a novel way to cut costs... a small trans cooler would have been so much easier to fit in front of the Rad, there is a ton of space there in the 6Cyl engine... thanks for making me a little bit smarter now matjohn...

A transmission cooler *inside* the radiator is the industry norm and has been for decades. Nothing unusal or Jag-specific about it at all :-). Any radiator shop should be able to replace one.

The problem with having (only) an external air-to-fluid cooler is very little cooling takes place until the car is moving. With the fluid-to-fluid cooler in the radiator the transmission oil is being cooled as long as engine coolant is circulating, even when the car is stationary.

Some cars and trucks even have an engine oil cooler incorporated into the radiator.

DD, I did some research on the trans cooler in the Rad, and as you stated this if fairly normal... thanks for the great advice you provide on a regular basis. I learn new stuff evertime I am on this site.

Hey Matt I would be a bit concerned if the trans oil cooler has leaked inside the Rad what other issues are lurking inside as well that will rear their ugly heads. If I was you I would have the end tanks removed and fixed properly.

Another alternative is the Commodore radiator (Pontiac GTO) one guy here in Aus has replaced his with one of these. Pretty cheap on Ebay around $200 and they already have 2 internal oil coolers.

True story. Basically I'm tossing the dice by reusing a radiator that is definitely leaking internally. I'm really just betting that it only leaks on the inside, and doesn't start shooting coolant into the engine compartment. Eventually my plan is to get another radiator, but I'm just on a bit of a budget at the moment. Thanks for the heads up on the Commodore and the link to ebay, I'll keep those at the top of my list.
