Windshield Wiper Switch for 1988 Jag XJS
Hi Everyone.
I have a 1988 Jag XJS V12 coupe. My windshield wiper switch has gone bad so I purchased a 1982 -1987 switch and installed it. I've found out that it only works in the #1 position. The other 3 positions are not working like they were on the old switch. Are there any troubleshooting that can be tested? I've connected the new switch the same exact way the old switch was connected. Could it be that the other 3 positions are not working because it's not the 1988 - 1989 switch part. If that is the case does anyone know where I can purchase the 1988 - 89 windshield wiper switch AEU2527 part.
Thanks,
Marcusp

Your 88 probably has the electrolux wiper system, and the earlier switch is for the Lucas system. I know that to retrofit the electrolux system in an earlier car, you have to cut one of the wires on the earlier switch. There was a service bulletin on the retrofit, and it outlines the procedure. I suspect that if you search for the bulletin and cut the wire, your switch will work correctly.
EDIT: Here's a link to the service bulletin; the info starts on page 41.
