Default Wiper parking

I have some weird wiper action. Pull and hold the stalk and I get one cycle and they park. Pull it and let go and they stop where I let go.

Turn the on they run slow or fast as set. But turn em off and they just stop right where I turned them off.

Any ideas as to what's malfunctioning? And they park way too high as well. Is this just worn bushings?

There is a small part in the Lucas wiper mechanism (I think your model has the Lucas system) that is the park module. It is a spring loaded switch affair, which is activated by a cam-operated spiral track which is part of the mechanical, not electrical system, and is sited in the mechanical, not motor, part of the mechanism. This aspect of the mechanism has stopped working as intended. This is what it looks like and it is easy to change:

Either the switch has given up, or an electrical contact somewhere has failed, or, just as likely, the spiral ramp mechanical operating bit has failed. When you switch off the wipers (or let go of the stalk after starting them with the single wipe pull) this somehow changes the motor direction and makes the wiper mechanism push the spiral spring at the correct moment to activate the switch. This mechanism is a bit complicated, but years ago I took mine apart and managed to fix it. Sorry I cannot be more precise, and I have no photos.
