Default Wire???

Hi all.
I have been cleaning up my engine bay and have come across this wire the spade terminal isn’t connected to anything I can see. As you can see from the pictures the wire is near the air con compressor. Any ideas please.
Rob.

That connects to the a/c compressor. You should see the terminals immediately aft of the pulley/clutch assembly

Cheers

Agree with the other Doug, it looks like it attaches to the AC compressor clutch.

I think it is part of a fuseable link system that somehow cuts the power to the compressor under certain conditions to prevent problems.

Thanks guys.
Greg my car is a 1991 pre face lift. I thought the fusible like was fitted to earlier cars and the later cars had a pressure switch in the air con system. I might be wrong and stand to be corrected.
Rob. This is my first XJS so it’s a learning curve.

You are probably correct. The plug looks like the one I used to have, and it certainly goes to the compressor, whatever it does when on there!

Found the terminals for the wires. The spade connectors are at the front of the compressor just behind the clutch. I didn’t see them before as the air con pipe was in the way. 😂
Thanks for all your help.
Rob.
