Hello ... just joined the forum this morning in the hope that someone can help me with a quick question ... as a Brit in Chicago, I have a new(ish) Jaguar ... but have got the opportunity to buy a 93 XJRS (yeah, the one with that 'special' 6L V12). I am not a classic car expert, nor anything more than an amateur mechanic, so before I let my heart rule my head, was curious if anyone here knows if there are any Jaguar specials that can service that rather special TWR 6L V12 monster.

The XJRS has a Zytec, non factory-standard ignition and fuel injection system. Parts for this are unavailable and AFAIK there are no specialists anywhere, except just maybe one or two in the UK.
A factory standard non-XJRS model would be a far more realistic purchase assuming you want to drive the car, unless money is no object. A well sorted standard V12 in proper condition suspension and engine wise, is a terrific car.

 

Thanks Greg, appreciate your insight ... just spoken with a Jaguar specialist near Chicago who had similar cautions about parts availability ... XJRS looks like a fantastic car, but seems it's time has passed, and doesn't look viable for someone like me.

That said, if anyone here is willing to take on the risk, there may be a good example for sale in Kentucky, US.
