Default XJS driving on snow

Hi all,

Came across this video on u tube:

I feel guilty now about keeping mine in the garage when there is even a heavy frost. But maybe not!

Enjoy,
LeeP

That my XJ-S and my video. When it´s cold enough over here, they won´t salt the roads. V12 certainly provides enough heat and the XJ-S is certainly maneuverable enough to have fun on ice! Having a manual transmission helps, though. The engine has plenty of torque, so either wheel spin of engine braking induced slides are available at will... :-)

Good to hear from you Finlandese and apologies for hijacking your video - didn't realise that you were on the forum.

A beautiful car, wonderful scenery and great driving. I'm envious.

Do I understand correctly that you have a manual transmission in your V12? If so that is pretty rare. Presumably winter tyres?

Cheers,
LeeP

No need to apologize. I did not even remember I was a member of this board since 2014, until I saw your message. I came here because youtube analytics showed traffic from here. This is my second post! :-D

My car has been converted to manual transmission with the tried and tested Simply Perfomance conversion package, that is based on Getrag 265, that was used in the six cylinder XJ-S. The rear end is 3:31 and it all works beautifully. It really transforms the car, as far as more spirited driving goes. Tires are studded winter tires. Winter tires are a legal requirement here in Finland and without studs, progress on ice would be almost impossible. I have taken her out on four occasion this winter. Daily driving is not really an option, due salt on the roads. But on a nice, cold and dry day, one can get lost on an ice track... :-)
