Tons of archived discussion on this.

The Jag V12 can take on a rather odd exhaust note with low restriction mufflers....but an X-pipe or H-pipe added into the system yields a very pleasant tone.

On my present V12 I went with four glass packs and an X-Pipe. Happy with results.

Others will chime in.

Cheers

I have a temporary system - gutted cats, high-flow glasspacks (don't like) leading to side exits ahead of the rear radius track arms.

The sound at idle or barely touching the gas is quite nice if you like deep V8 type sound, everything from that to 3000rpm is terrible, and everything after 3000rpm sounds a lot like this
It is also great for growling at people by backing off the pedal while still giving it some gas.

I'd suggest getting (new) replacement UK version downpipes which will delete the CATS, delete all the center mufflers add an X-pipe and retain the stock rear resonators under the trunk, but open up the exits if you can. I believe the race cars often had dual exhaust tips on either side. Your car will feel brand new once it can breath properly without all those god forsaken mufflers and clogged cats on there.

Ahhh. Very good. Interesting and informative. But who of us has the knowledge and ability to, let's say, measure and analyze the reversion effect, or the compound energy waves that occur during exhaust scavenging? And then determine what is most ideal for the Jag V12 engine and, from that, engineer a system for optimal results within xxx-rpm range?

What most of us are after, simply, is a pleasant and sporty tone from the exhaust and, given the costs of custom exhaust work, I suspect few of us have the resources (or willingness!) for unlimited experimentation.

Cheers

Doug,

I agree wholeheartedly. This merely was intended to be a reading, it never hurts to know more. After reading it you may not know what is right for your car ... but you may get some hints about what solutions go in a wrong way.

C'mon Doug;
I'm always measuring compound energy waves during exhaust scavenging.
Especially when I've had a lot of beans.

most here have seen my side pipe,, ALL 12 cylinders into 1 large 5" outlet 2 glass pcks!

the sound around 3500 up is amazing+ loud, and back off is a some snapin, poppin, at 6000rpm it almost becomes a whistlin sound, the exhaust pulses start to blend into one sound(ears cant seprate the pulses).

not for everyone , but my car is not built for everyone!,, and idling is great, most motorheads give it thumbs up!

Hey Ronbros, I just noticed you got a right hand screw! How long did that take getting used to??? I think your car looks good with the side pipes, and I'll bet it sounds even better.

Was just curious as I've never had the chance. Worked on a mail truck or 2 but never drove one?

New exhaust system going in on Tuesday, will post video.

Magnaflow part # 11386 and rear bullet types at the rear.

Hopefully as good as I expect and not too loud!

Headphones be best

I have also added to 20 inch glass packs after the rear wheel . (Video posted of this soon)
