Default XJS help

My license plate lights and tail lights don't work and i cant seem to find the problem. Trying to save myself from a $200 citation at court on tuesday. I've checked the fuses and they are fine. All wiring seems to look in good condition. Also my dash lights don't work and again, fuses are good. Any help from anyone with some knowledge or the same problems?

Also tackling my spark plug, cap and rotor project tomorrow. How long will this REALLY take me? I have the kirby book and the "accessing the V" page. Sounds pretty straight forward with a few hassles

It would help if you added the model and details to your signature.

Is there voltage at the lights? pull the connector and measure for voltage and take note of the readings and post them back.

I assume it's a V12 I did mine by removing everything from the V makes it easier to re-install the plugs without fear of cross threading them, took me a couple of hours. You can do it without removing everything using a piece of hosepipe to re-install the plugs.

I also find it good practice to take pictures of everything as I dismantle - makes putting it back together easier especially where shims are involved.

One of the relays above the LF wheel is the sidelights relay. It controls all the lamps you say are not working. Replace that relay and they should be up and running!

Cheers,

Check the loom going from the bootlid (trunk lid) to the boot loom. It could be a broken wire or, more likely, a loose of corroded connector block or earth.

- no dash lights could easily be that the bulbs are out.

- I am no mechanic at all: did my cap and rotor (not plugs & wires) the other day for the first time. Reckon I could do them in half an hour now. Some of the plugs look a little difficult to reach. I understand there is a specialized tool available.
