Unhappy XJS hood release

I have a 94 XJS ragtop and the right side hood release quit "releasing".
now what do I do?. Left side works fine, can't see squat under the hood (bonnet).

Any suggestions welcome, if I can't do it I'll have to two to shop (also
had a coolant leak, thats how i found the hood quit working)

Hi Rick welcome to the forum.

Moving this over to the XJS section hopefully one of the guys can get you in there.

Have seen this problem crop up before.

The hood is only held on with 4 bolts. Try undoing those from the front and see if that gets you under there enough to get at it. I recommend having a helper.

My right side "grabs" because the cable is tight. It grabs unless I fully extend the lever. Sometimes I have to wiggle the hood to get it to release.
Might try that first.

Tried wiggling as suggest and keeping the release all the way pulled out inside the cockpit., no joy.

Has anyone ever removed the hood from the front with a latch that would not release?
Can the hood be removed by unbolting the hinges after removing the Grill and spoiler? Can it be accessed AFTER taking all that stuff apart?..

Angry photo available

does anyone have a close up photo of what the passanger side latch looks like? I would like to slide something in and grab the latch because i suspect the cable to the latch is either broke or the nipple end came off.

I'll try to get better pics for you. The XJSs, I believe are attached by one lever/cable that pulls and locks the hood in place. These are quite different and Better than on Es where both sides lock individually.

Sounds like the cable linking the driver's side latch/release to the passenger side latch/release is broken. This happened to me and I had to replace the cable. It happens.

I removed the front grill and then removed the (4) bolts attaching the hood to the body and was able to slide the hood forward enough to remove the hood.
