brkcskn,

Can you confirm if you've got an XJS Cabriolet or an XJS Convertible?

The Cabriolet is not the same as the Convertible. The first true convertible did not exist until 1986. These cars started as coupes and were converted by Hess & Eisenhardt.

Prior to 1986 Jaguar built the Cabriolet. This is not a true convertible. It still has metal window frames and a metal beam over the roof (targa style). Here is a photo;

In 1988 Jaguar was finally able to make its own factory built convertible.

As you can imagine, the cabriolet and convertible do not share the same top.

Hi Mark,

Thanks for the information i did not know the difference now i learned

I think you have XJS convertibles, i am looking some convertible hood for Jaguar and other cars (Mercedes, Ford etc.) I have searched on the web and i found sellers but i am not sure the quality of the materials.

Do you have any idea which one is the best quality and low price

Burak,

The traditional high-end canvas-based fabrics used in convertibles are Stayfast, Twillfast and Sonnenland. The XJS used Sonnenland.

Google the names and you'll understand the difference.

Hope that helps

Paul
