I measured mine and it is 6 1/4" from the tip of the head to the tip of the tail (widest point)

Excellent, thanks guys.
Sounds like the larger one is the correct one.

Graham.

Installed my Leaper.....was going to go black chrome but decided on gloss black instead.....

If you have the XKRS spoiler...best is to install on a warmer day so it bends and sticks.....I installed it last night when it was cool and the head tends to pop up.

Gloss black looks great!!! Not too flashy but very subtle and still noticeable.

Thanks Nevette.....I wanted black chrome at first but after thinking about it might not look right with the chrome bits on the rest of the car. I was alittle concerned gloss black may not look right with a black car but after looking at some pics of a black Ferrari 599 GTO with the black prancing horse (although my Jag is no way close to the 599 GTO)....I thought it looked ok.

Also...the XJ75 Concept car has the black Leaper...but looks better on the white XJ.

Thanks Moe-she-a! I wish I could have angled it more but the xkr-s spoiler starts to slope up. Mine's more of a running jag than a leaper....LOL

Does the 2012XKR use a smaller leaper?

That's a good question.....maybe I can push mine up alittle more so it's leaping more. Looking at the 2012 pics...it does look like the head is higher. I'll have to try it....if not then the 2012 leaper is smaller. Will let you know.

So I removed the leaper this evening to see if it can be readjusted. The oem double sided tape was unusable after several adjustments and so I went to advanced auto to get some 3M double sided tape.

Now it's leaping and have no issues. I would still suggest to install when it's 60+ degrees (I think the 3M tape also says something like that).

The 3M tape I used....works great!

Are these leaper emblems metal or plastic?

Sorry to bring back such an old thread, but has Jag shut down everybody except them? I cannot find anyone selling a leaping chrome logo on ebay that is 6 1/4" +/- long. Any insight out there?

Richard,

That link is for the expensive OEM badge from the UK. Geosnooker can probably buy it for less online from a Jaguar dealer at a discount.

For a much less expensive Chinese copy, download the AliExpress app (from Alibaba, the Chinese knock-off of eBay) from the Android Play Store (I don't know if Apple has it) and then search for "Jaguar Leaper Badge". I found several, all under $15 delivered.

I wanted to add a leaper to my rear end, but always thought the ones on the newer models across the Jaguar model line were too large and out of scale. So I ordered the smaller ones in black (I think it was about $5.00 for a pair) from a Chinese shipper. Subtle but most assuredly Jaguaresque.
