Default 07-10 Headlight Upgrade Potential?

Hi everyone!

I was thinking of developing LED updated headlights for us owners of the 07-10 XK/XKR and was wondering if there is demand for it?

Let me know your thoughts?

Thank you!

I was thinking of doing something similar to the 5.0L XKR with the LED built in?

Great initiative, however I would strongly suggest showing something (draft, photo etc) so that people can really assess your offer. Otherwise this poll is pointless. As votes are for a blind guess...

I for one don’t want headlights that look like every other Kia Audi and BMW… on the road.
But I’m all for improved lighting. I do like to drive at night and I do like the adaptive lighting aspect. And though I have replaced the ballasts and bulbs, brighter options would be nice, including a brighter option to the cornering halogen lights.

Yes but before I get into that phase I want to make sure that there would be demand for it otherwise I won't waste my time doing so hence the poll to gauge interest.

Totally agree that is why I am thinking of doing something inline with the 2011+ XK/XKR headlights so it remains as close to OEM as possible.

I did that some years ago and have a thread here for it.

My question is, will this be a DIY or do you or do you have a professional fabricator to make them?

I have a professional fabricator that would manufacture these for us.

Good to know, that’s rather important. If seeking serious interest and wanting to make these in quantity as I’d assume you’d need to do for it to be cost effective, you might want to let your readers know a bit more. I think it’s a fantastic idea if it could be done professionally as an OEM replacement I think there would be serious interest, more so over a DIY kit.

Okay, so "MANUFACTURE" or Modify? A one-for-one swap? A Wait for Three Weeks for Return, or a kit to DIY?
To ship headlight assemblies isn't super inexpensive, and then you'll still have $3,000 worth of headlights getting shipped however far, twice.

This is going to be a direct replacement so either recycle your old headlights or sell them your choice lol.

So, the price tag will be MORE than $3000???
Yeah, I'll pass on those.

Well obviously they wouldn't be $3000 nor did I say they would cost that much or give a price tag otherwise I wouldn't do it at all as it needs to be cost effective!

Well heck, if you will charge LESS than $3000 for a headlight that is a straight swap, you could make millions just selling them as an uprated stock replacement part.

lol I don't think millions as there's only so many of our cars available and this is more to help us get an updated look.

What we are saying is you may underestimate the interest here, however many details are missing to really yield an effective response. I get this was a poll but it’s hard to get a good response if your potential audience doesn’t fully understand what you’re offering.

What CeeJay is saying is new ones are incredibly expensive mostly because they aren’t made anymore and the second hand market is slowly creeping up.

There are obviously tons of aftermarket headlight and taillight assemblies available for mass produced vehicles and these are of varying quality. The initial cost for tooling, molds, harnesses, etc can be substantial.

Regardless I’m definitely interested, especially once further details and specifics are provided and again I think your potential “customers” may be more plentiful.

This is all wishful thinking until you get a cost estimate from your fabricator. Unless he modifies an OEM XKR adaptive headlight and sells it on an exchange basis, I just don't see how it can be economically feasible. It's a style mod that has no effect on performance.
