Default '07 XK conv brake squeak driving me nuts

Hi,
I had my brake pads (not rotors) replaced last month. For the past week or so, I have noticed a fairly loud squeak that persists when I brake the car and the car is slowing to 20-15-10-5. The squeak stops just before coming to a complete halt. If I pump the brakes hard a couple of time, the squeak goes away for a while and then comes back again.

Any remedies?

Thanks!

Do you know what the replacement pads were. Also if they had a backing plate (insulator) that prevents squeal or if they used brake grease on the back of the pads. The noise is usually caused by the back of the pad vibrating in the caliper and as you supply more pressure it will stop.
The other possibility is that the brake pad that were used are a hard metalic pad that will squeal . As other have discussed on the site they have used Ceramic pads which are almost dust free and do not squeal.

Just did my fronts using jaguar OEM pads and napa premium rotors. No more squeaking when stopping.

Prior to this I had the same squeaking as you and what I did to remedy this is to remove the caliper pins, clean, grease and replace. You need a 7mm Allen wrench (which doesn't come in a standard metric set) to remove them but this cleared it up for me.

The pins are located in the rubber boots on either side of the caliper, just remove the plastic caps.

I did use the disc brake quiet on the outer pad only as the inner locks into the cylinder with spring clips but I found greasing the pins remedies the squeaking as it did on my old 97XK8 without changing pads or adding the disc brake quiet to alleviate.

Also noticed you didn't do the rotors but the recommended minimum thickness is 1.10" and new ones are 1.18". Mine looked perfect but were at the throw away thickness so I just replaced them. Didn't want to drop $250 a rotor from jaguar so went with the Napa ultra premiums for $220 for the set.

Hope that helps

I had the oem replaced with EBC rotors and RedStuff pads about 18 months ago. They started squealing almost immediately and it of course drove me nuts. I put the car in reverse, backed up a bit and put on the brakes pretty aggressively. Did this about six times. Squeal went away and has never come back. Not particularly scientific but for some reason it worked. Hope this helps.
