Default 07 XK Tranmission question

I just purchased my first Jag back in January and have loved every minute of it, minus the few electrical gremlins (screen not coming on, etc). This is my first automatic in over 15 years and I had a quick question. When I'm decelerating and coming to a stop I can feel the car aggressively downshift into first gear. This is while in regular drive, not sport. Is this normal? It seems if I brake just right, ie a little hard right before a complete stop I don't notice it, but if I slow roll the stop I can feel it.

Thanks.

Mine does that but only in Sport mode. I did have a problem with mine the other day not shifting right like I had it in Sport. So I moved it back and forth a couple times from Sport to Normal and it fixed it.

Think I should take it into the dealer then?

I just bought an 08 and it doesn't do what you describe. If you still have some warranty take it to a dealer, if not I wish you good luck.

Don't know if this is pertinent...

Are you inclined to quick stops in traffic? There is some sort of voodoo in the electronics that "learns" your driving style and adjusts to it. If you're a quick/short stopper that may affect downshifts on braking. But, the preceding is just the speculation of a non-techie.

When I drive the Carolina mountains continuously using the paddle "-" shift or S on down grades, my 07 will continue to similarly downshift in PRND on slight down grades or braking once I've reached less undulating terrain. Then it will eventually re-adjust to less strenuous driving.

If it bothers you that much you might consider disconnecting/connecting the battery terminals so the magic box(s) will relearn your driving habits. But, don't blame me for any adverse effects of that. After all, it is voodoo.
