Default 07 XKR basket weave gearshift trim panel removal

Any idea how to remove the metal trim panel around the gear shift? I have some sort of abrievated manual that simply says...carefully release the 8 trim panel clips. Thats all it says. Anyone out there who has done this? This trim part looks fragile and i don't want to wreck it by prying on it to release the clips. Please advise.

Thank you,
Tom

Default Removal of gearshift trim panel

If you are talking about the plastic piece that is around the gear shift. You first need to lift up the wood grain panel. Use a thin blade to get under the panel by the cup holders. Once you lift up the panel there is a medal band that you can remove with your fingers and it will release the piece you are trying to remove. I hope this will help you. I had to lift the panel to replace my limiter switch which broke.

Thanks caryshaw,

I was referring to the larger area trim piece that is under the shift bezel. Mine is aluminum, i think yours is wood trim. So we could be talking about the same thing, just different material finish. It sounds like you can insert a thin flat blade under the trim, near the cup holder, then start to pry upwards. What do you think?

Thx, tom
