15 XKR having random start issue
Fix Update. Started the XKR every day since March 30th, per handbook sequence, no issues.
For fun, i decided not to service the car myself and took it to my local Jag expert who serviced it and load tested the battery, did a deep dive with SDD software, performed parasitic draw test.
Nothing to see, nothing to report.Vehicle battery and draw test all within expected ranges.
@XKDreams one useful thing my specialist mentioned that i wanted to pass on. If for any reason you put the car in accessory mode by not pressing brake and hitting start button, he recommends always switching off, pausing for a moment, then starting with the approved Jaguar Brake/start button sequence. He and his team do this all the time because they often have to work in accessory mode without the engine running. SO if you cycle the ignition "on" without starting its fine. Just shut it down and restart per the handbook. On an average week they have 20 or so Jaguars through the shop, looking at the spread I'd say half of them were modern era cars with canbus/modular electronics/AGM batteries...hes encountered plenty of weird issues, yours and mine is a new one on him.

@Mark22Elliott A lifetime ago, working on US Navy electronics systems, the type of intermittent problem you describe were sometimes attributed to FM, (.......) Magic.
It's not surprising that JLR SDD may not readily identify an intermittent problem where a vehicle internal trouble code is not logged. SDD will identify faults that do not rise to the level of MIL illumination, but some rare/unanticipated faults are not part of the program.
If your XKR was a 2010/2011, reprogramming select modules with the latest software would be a good suggestion. You might ask your Jag specialist if any (online/latest) software updates are available.
Short of that, testing when the fault occurs is your best bet.
JLR SDD has the ability to do pinpoint tests. This includes reading pertinent signals and activating parts of the starting circuit to confirm operation.
Please keep us posted on your success.

Many thanks Bill, i will keep you posted. Mine is a 2013 and Vin number ending 49434 so i am having difficulty finding manuals for it. Ive tried all the sources mentioned on this site and used the JLR subscription. None of which helped. Later models dont seem to be available for download.
They are hard to run down sometimes. You can get a disc on EBay for around $10-$15 I have purchased several. Might at least get you started.
Yea so a bit of history? Jaguar use to have JTIS (Jaguar Technical Information Services) which is their term for the shop manual. This covered all the Jaguar models and died out sometime around 2004-2005. After that it was Topix and pay by the minute and as you found out they don't offer a complete manual anymore. You can download sections and I have a good number of those.
Next Jaguar used JEPC (Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog). This is what the guy at the Jaguar dealer parts counter uses to get your part numbers. This went up to around 2018 BUT another problem. This requires Flash Player which has been removed by just about everyone (Including MS who removes it automatically!). Without Flash the program works but you have no diagrams which makes it useless!
Now we did get a smart IT guy come to the rescue. He created JPART. Free to everyone and right here on the forum too.
JPART
With JPART we can again use the existing JEPC software with all the diagrams visible. A great bit of work in my opinion as we were really struggling to find a way to run JEPC when all this happened.
If you find a manual post back to help the next guy out.

Search for JEPC as there are many threads.
Yes we do need to clean up the stickies a bit but again we have lost a moderator named GGG some time ago. This affected the posted files/links as he has cancelled his accounts and left. I have no idea who has the ability to try and restore or delete posts. All the Jaguar forums are suffering from dead links and missing files.

These are in Jaguars General forum.
I have a workshop manual published in 2014 that indicates model years 2010 - 2015.

PS: If anyone has the final edition of the wiring diagrams, it would be much appreciated.

Also can you tell me the difference between the workshop manual you so kindly provided and downloading jepc/JPart? i used to use JTIS quite successfully on my XK8 and miss that system.
Hi Sean thanks so much for the workshop manual in Dropbox which I was able to download successfully. I still need to figure out how to go directly to the area of interest in the manual or is it just a matter of scrolling though? For example i did a search on control arms (CTRL F) but nothing came up.

JEPC is Jaguar Electronic Parts Catalog. You can use it as is or also install JPart which is a web add on. I don't use JPart so not much help there. JEPC works fine for me.
