Which do you prefer? I have an 07 XK and I like the 2010 and up better. Which do you prefer?

Probably biased, as I have an 07 XK, but I prefer the trimmer look of the 4.2’s, the 5.0’s look to have unnecessarily chubby cheeks.

As usual, to each his own on looks, and I've owned both 07 and 12 verts. I liked the look with the fogs on the 07 but I prefere the 12s updated style with the front cowl integrated headlight washers and the lower grill smile. I really think th chubby cheeks on the 12 make it look much more agressive.

I like both excepting the XKR-S. Too many vents and stuff going on. Although I'd presented with one, I couI'd "suffer" through owning and driving it .

I think the refresh on these cars is actually quite nice. On the X100 I didn't care for the ground effects that got added. The cars were objectively better, but I really didn't like the added bottom heavy visual weight.

Somehow I’ve missed the lower grill smile on these cars, thanks for pointing that out!

For a XKR Coupe, I like them all. Would probably favor a 2011 with speedpack, or perhaps a '08 or '09 Portfolio.

For a XK Coupe I like the clean and simple '07-'09.

For a convertible the '08 and '09 Portfolio wins out.

Well as the 07/08/09s go I prefer the XK facia over the XKRs...Why? I feel the front bumper lip spoiler has the same feel and edginess of the side skirts and lower rear bumper...It flows better and matches the rest. The XKR has a non matching flat bottom...

12 and up with the restyled headlights, are the real winner!

The newer style with the additional chrome looks really sweet.

While I prefer the later style headlight shape, I do think they're a little bit too small. Still, if I could magically fit those on my XK, I probably would. I actually saw one 4.2 for sale in Italy that had the headlights, front bumper and side wings swapped from a late 5.0. A fairly big project, I reckon...

Regarding the facelift changes; I love having proper side vents. The ones fitted to later XKs (and indeed all Jags nowadays) just look like door handles to me.

Another thing I have noted the uppers side vents/ trim on the newer XKs I have noticed on Hyundai's, Toyotas, and Kia SUVs amongst others...Also when you look at the XK dead side view the sharp edge of the tail light does not match the 2012 up rounded edge...11s down have the same sharp corner front and rear...Nit picking but the rear quarters should have been redesigned to match the front...

I'm curious where you got this picture. That car doesn't match a Jaguar factory product that I am aware of.

The XKR-s with the extra vents in the front bumper just past the hood uses 2012+ headlights and fenders.

Btw Viper, there are three generations of front ends on the cars.

2007-2009, original. XK and XKR have different front bumper covers.

2010-2011, updated front bumper cover, XK and XKR have same front bumper covers.

2012-2015 updated front bumper cover, front fenders, headlights. XK and XKR have same front bumper covers.

You're right, it's not factory. It's a salvage title 2008 XKR that was fitted with an XKR-S front end. Yuk! Just to make the point about the catfish face. Good catch! (pun intended). See this old thread:

+1, but I appreciate the beauty in all of them but can see the validity of the RS/catfish likeness..
and I could actually afford one in Oct last year...just thought it too ugly from the front...although appreciate that not many will see the front for long

When the back passes the front the driver following a XKR-S gets to see the front.

The accident rate on the XKR-S just based on my look at title history of cars for sale is something else.

For me personally I'm not as much a fan of the spliter, canards, and the rest of the aero package that the R-S got. Although I am a big fan of the mechanical upgrades. I just think the base KX and XKR look more rounded, sleeker, and more sexy. Same reason I'm not as big a fan of the F-type. But on the other side, I also still like the front end and the rest of the x100's.
