Where should the allen key in the convertible pump be set for normal top operation? CW all the way? Somewhere in the middle? My manual makes no mention of this variable..

I don't know how you can't find it...

 

It is in effect a tap . You open it anticlockwise about one full turn to operate the top manually. You fully close it clockwise untill it stops to allow the pump to operate the roof .
