Default 2007 Suspension: The first to go are the ????

At 50K miles there must be something in the suspension starting to wear out

1. front upper control arm 4. rear upper control arm 7. front stabilizer bar links
2. front lower control arm 5. rear lower control arm 8. rear stabilizer bar links.
3. front lower rearward control arm 6. rear lateral control arm

Over speed bumps I am hearing the squeeks of a rear bushing or two!
Which control arms tend to wear out earlier than the others?

Your car is 17 years old, replace EVERYthing. Age is as bad a problem as mileage. If one thing goes, it'll all go soon enough.

i’ve seen one bad upper ball joint. they just need boots. same with the rear stablizer bar links, but those are dirt cheap just get some used from an f-type or xj with black boots

banana the rear lowers the rear uppers and the toe links are the ones that take a beating

Don’t forget your struts. The dampers can leak, isolators can crack.

What patch when you can can replace the lot and never need to worry about it again I'm with Cee Jay on this one, it's only matter of time before another component is bound to fail !

Bushes are known to frequently fail. Plenty of complete kits available to replace the lot and have no further worries about what’s to fail next.

Replacing the lot goes against my Scottish heritage.

I do like that response.
However, it seems only the distillers have recognized that time is money. And it seems to be an exponential relationship given my preferences.

everything except the banana should be bought used. 15+ xj and ftype don’t have problems with torn ball joints and spherical bushings..you can do all the suspension gravy work under 200 bucks.
