Had mine done by dealer 'cause didn't want to mess with the air bag; dangerous and very expensive...............you may want to reconsider a DIY project.

Be very careful, Adrian

It's quite easy. Forums are good for scaremongering people who could easily do a task into not doing a task because bluntly they were too much of a pansy to try.

It was the same situation in the Porsche forum.

Just follow some basic common sense like disconnecting the battery and not hurling the airbag across the room.

Any half handy person can do this easily

Moar,
If you are so clever why didn't you give him some instructions; that would be most helpful to every body!
Telling us it's easy really doesn't help much.

Having mechanical skills simplifies many tasks the average owner would not consider. If you possess those skills, this may help. If you don't... take it to a dealer.

BOL in your decision.

Wasn't at home and I can see now it's been sorted kindly by Mr Vince.

With all due respect, tell him it's not a DIY project without even knowing him doesn't help much..........

Out of curiosity, what are your symptoms?

Clock spring light in the dash is now on full time as opposed to intermittent.

Mine was intermittent air bag warning displayed; and seemed to be tied to steering wheel position ie. turning left would activate it; turn ignition off and it would go away but would return again after turning left...............I decided it must involve the steering wheel Air Bag and the clock spring.
I am an ex UK aeronautical apprentice with over 50 years experience with Jaguar ownership and repairs (minor and major) But I am always reluctant to give DIY members 'the go ahead" advice on Air Bags.............nuff said.

Cheers, Adrian

There's a number of YOUTUBE videos on fixing clock springs. If one does not know how a clockspring works, go look at some YOUTUBE video. Clocksprings are a poor design, period.

Looking to replace clock spring for my 2007 XK. Anyone have a good source? I guess I should buy new since I'm not doing the work and I'm afraid to get a used one because you never know when it will go.
