Exclamation 2007 XK Convertible Electrical issues

Hi, I just purchased a 2007 XK Convertible. The car was a fresh water flood but I don't know how far the water got into the car. It got into the engine but I had the water drained and the car runs fine. For some reason, the seats don't move and the radio has no sound. I checked all the fuses but I couldn't figure out the relays because it doesn't list them in the owners manual. Also the air bag light will not go out. Any suggestions?

Also, is there any AMPs or relays under the seat?

I spilled a cup of coffee down the back of one of my seats on my 01 XKR. It got into the power seat module and shorted it out. That may be what happened to yours.

Probably, I've been considering to take my seats out but I have no idea on how to reach the back bolts because when I got the car, the seats were fully reclined back and slid back all the way is its nearly impossible to reach the bolts. And I also suppose that the radio AMP is under the seat also because it will not stop blowing the same fuse for the radio.

The only thing I could think of as of now is to put my car up on a lift and twist the bolts from beneath the car. Hopefully their not covered up because I have used this method on many cars.

Looking at my service manual, you have a seat module for each seat. The seat module is under each seat. I'm afraid to say that your car was a lot further under water than you were told. The amp is there right behind the screen on the heater box. It shows some other modules associated with the entertainment system and they seem to be in the same area. Did you check the aux fuse/junction box between the rear seats?

Yeah I was playing with the fuses and I messed up the navigation. I took the car to my mechanic and they got the seats out and the amps and seat motors are bad so i just ordered the required amps and new seat motors. Thanks for the information!

Man I hope you got a great deal, I recall a similar post on the Corvette Forum a few years ago and it ended up costing the buyer more than had he just purchased a similar "non-water" damaged car. He eventually sold it for a loss as it kept having issues.

Good luck on your project.

Tom

Thanks, I really hope I won't have to go crazy restoring it to showroom condition. I have to replace the seats and I'm scared to find out how much they'll cost. I got some dealer plates on it at the moment and its a blast to drive! I already raced a aston martin vantage at the light and smoked him
