Default 2007 xk fuel filter removal

On the 2007 XK fuel filter removal, do I need the special fuel spring lock decoupling tool 310-D005? I see I can buy one for five bucks online, but the picture in the workshop manual leaves me wondering if I need that tool for the fuel filter. Thank you.

I've checked the diagram and picture in the Workshop Manual:

The only way to release those spring couplings without damage is with the decoupling tool.

Damaging the old fuel filter doesn't matter but it looks too easy to compromise the coupling seal by trying to improvise a removal tool.

The tool in the manual is listed as 310-D005. If you do a Google search and just put in those numbers you get several hits like this one: OTC , 518899 Fuel Line Disconnect Tool 310-D005 Ford D87L-9280-B 1/2 Inch

So they are cheap and a Ford part and I'd wager you could get one from Pepboys or the like for under ten bucks. I've yet to do that myself.

This is posted in case someone wants to know where to get one of those tools for disconnecting the fuel lines. And I assume also the filter, although I looked at the filter picture in the manual and wondered a bit. I plan to do this in the near future. No rush for me right now.

FYI Sears has a Lisle AC/Fuel line disconnect tool kit for $9 with free shipping if you PU at store. Multi sizes, so better deal than $5 for 1 size.
Took Sears 15 mins to e mail me 'ready for PU'; It's only 10 mins to store for me.........
That's where got a set of Allen sockets for $9.50; including a 7 mm for rear brake pad replacement for the XK8 and should also work on the XK too.
