Default 2008 XK Nav questions

1. How many Nav DVD's are required?

2.Where are they mounted, dash, trunk, glove box?

3. If more than one are required does the Nav system hold both?

The 08 I'm looking has the original DVD(s) I know I can buy the new 2010/2011 DVD's from Jag for $199 and plan to do so, the GM system has 2 DVD's for East and West and if crossing the Mississippi you need to change DVD's to get to the appropriate POI's.

Thanks

Tom

Tom,

The DVD player is in the trunk and holds one dvd. I have two dvd's, one east coast and one west coast. Hope that helps.

Actually 199 from Jag seems like a great price. I usually get mine from the Naveteq site for 199.

Default New DVD

When you load the 2010-2011 DVD, the system will go through a software upgrade which takes about 15 minutes. During this time the car must either be running, or in the "on" accessory position.

DO NOT turn off the vehicle during the upgrade or install.

The upgrade seemed to improve the graphics in my 2008 XK.

Good luck...

Sweet, that's great to know. The DVD's that GM provides haven't included any improvements other than more current data. The Nav system on the 05 C6 looks the same as a brand new 2011.

Thanks that tip, I'l keep it mind when I buy the new DVD's and see if I notice any improvements.

Cheers

Tom
