Model Year 2009 XKR-S was a 4.2L with aero kit, forged wheels, different springs, and perhaps alcon brakes?
Not a common car, and I don't know a lot about it. If it weren't for the forged wheels I wouldn't know of its existance at all.
If I recall, the XKR-S as a 5.0L started in 2012 Model Year?
Here we go again about model year confusion between North American and European markets. The first XKR-S was a 4.2L Europe-only model with Alcon brakes and forged silver-painted Vortex wheels. It was a 2008 model, the last year before the 5.0L engine was introduced. There was no 2009 4.2L XKR-S, as the European 2009 models were 5.0L. The 4.2L XKR-S was never sold in North America; the closest model was the 2008 and 2009 4.2L XKR Portfolio with Alcon brakes.

Actually Stuart, the 4.2L XKR-S were 2009MY cars, the VIN's are actually right toward the end of the 4.2L run.
But because they were sold in 2008, everyone called them 2008's, but they are indeed 2009MY.
The confusion is, that cars in the UK are called by their number plates, an 08 plate, 58 plate, is a 2008, but the cars are 2009MY...
In a similar vein, the 5.0L was introduced in the UK in 2009, but they were 2010MY...
Furthermore, the title of this X150 Forum is for cars from 2006 - 2014. However, the first X150 sold in North America was a 2007 and the last was a 2015. Go figure.
All I'm saying is that there's a difference that's confusing, and everyone should be aware of it.
I hear ya, and I don't disagree, but ... all the U.K. car magazines call the 4.2L XKR-S a 2008. I couldn't find anywhere it was called it a 2009.

My 2009MY XKR Portfolio (same as yours, shadow grey car) was built on 12th June 2008, had it been delivered within the UK it would have been an "08 plate" and everyone would be calling it a 2008... same like these XKR-S...
The 4.2L XKR-S's that i've been able to get VIN's for, have all been built after my car... one of them even built on the same day.
...

It's just like the difference between driving in the US and the UK. In the US, we drive on the right side of the road and in the UK you drive on the left side.
Also in the US, we park our cars in the driveway and drive our cars on the parkway. As I said, go figure.
Sometimes the answer to a question is more confusing than the question, particularly when fundamentals are not identical. The US does use the UK's Registration Year concept, which is why it's confusing to us.

Oops! I just noticed this typo, but it was too late to edit my post and correct it. The second sentence should be: The US does notuse the UK's Registration Year concept, which is why it's confusing to us.
Well, George, since you brought up behinds, never forget who saved yours in WWII!

Lol, funny thread! Thanks for giving Russians some credit!
Whould have taken more than one Stalingrad and Kursk battle to win without lend-lease policy Studebakers and canned food, and ****’s nuke and rocket programs were stopped by British airforce I guess...
