Smile 2009 XKR LED tailight swap

I've done the taillight conversion using a kit I bought from ADAMESH.

jaguar accessories | jaguar xk and xkr | led rear lights

I was expensive but gotta say I love it! Installation was done by Honolulu Jaguar's top mechanic. We had a little difficulty with error messages popping up saying the left tail light was out. I think the solution was making sure that it was well grounded. We sorted it out and it looks and works great! Geofff at ADAMESH was extremely helpful!

Nice! Good to know that the Adamesh kit works with no issues on US market 4.2L cars. Don't the inner lights illuminate? Please post more pictures of all functions.

950 pounds (did that include shipping?) or roughly $1355.
Compared to the $767 (not including shipping) from SNG Barratt for the lights and harness, plus $50 or so for the relays, resistors and misc parts, to make them work (search for posts by George Kale).

Either way, they look great on the car! And we have to thank Jaguar for not changing the rear end body across the years, so we could upgrade the lights.

It may the camera caught it out of phase. LED's are more efficient because they emit light in pulses of off/on. They follow a cycle time. Longer cycle time uses less energy, but does funny things with cameras. For automobile lights, they just need to warn people, and low energy is good, so they use long cycle times between nothing and on. An entire camera frame can go by with no on cycle. If there were separate drivers for the LED's in the trunk section, the camera could of caught them out of phase. Further information would indeed be nice here. ^^

My kid just got a new Audi A4 and it has LED tail lights . I was behind the car and even in the day light the brake lights are super bright. At night it just about blinds you.

No, the inner (trunk lid) section of the lights, has only the backup and fog lights.

Thanks for sharing, I am also in Hawaii and looking at an XKR portfolio coupe on the market. Definitely will want to swap the tail lights. Can you share with us the total amount you spent on the Adamesh kit sent to Hawaii in addition to what they charged at Jaguar Honolulu?

The kit from Adamesh is around $1,100. or so. You can check their website for current price. I want to say Jag cost $500 for installation. It was worth every penny. Honolulu Jag gave me a new Jag loaner while they installed it. It took more than one trip to work out the bugs so I had a couple cars. Now Honolulu Jag has the installation dialed in so you'll be in and out fast. Feel free to give me a call (808) 772-0790. I have some strong advice on what to look out for. I absolutely love the car and think its the best value on the market today! It always gets complements and longing stares. As for the ridiculous mods and the price, I kinda think of the car as a trophy girlfriend who has special "needs". Trust me, she's worth it!

Cheers! Thanks for the info and encouragement although I need no convincing, the XK is an absolute beauty. Have had my eye on it for a while. The 3rd party dealership has been sitting on it for a while, feel like I should be able to get a good deal on her. It will be my 7th Jaguar if I get it, and 2nd XK. Will give you a ring on Friday if that's alright, will text you first. My name is Edward by the way. Thanks again
