Default 4.2 XKR rotational play in supercharger - normal?

After removing my supercharger for some maintenance and repairs (not related to the supercharger), I noticed something odd...

While holding down the rotors, i was able to rotate the pulley about 5 degrees clockwise (viewing from front), while the rotors remained stationary. I can't imagine the shaft would be torquing like that.

Is this normal???

Thanks !

I'd pull the snout off and expect to replace the rubber coupling if not the metal parts. It's basically a little lovejoy setup.

Same S/C as the 5.0, right?

That service bulletin says its only for the 2010+ models, so I'm not sure they are the same design.

I really don't want to take the snout off since I already replaced the fluid, and I would be too temped to just rebuild the whole thing.

But seeing this pic of the inside of the 5.0 S/C makes me think its normal. I'm guessing that torsional spring is what I'm feeling.

Edit: I have never had any issues or abnormal noise from the S/C, which also leads me to believe it's normal.

Do yourself a big favor and replace the coupler with a solid aftermarket one. The caddy guys are all doing it with the LSA motor and not looking back

consider taking your question over to the S-Type or X350 forum. A lot of DIY'ers over there that can probably give you the answer you need.
