Just to make sure...
All that is not relevant for the 4.2 right?
The manual recommends 5w30 WSS M2C913-B

That's hardly a controlled test, nor is it particularly relevant to a modern passenger car.

If your engine gets anywhere within 100 degrees of those temps, you've got a far bigger problem on your hands!
Wondering what your oil will look like after your car burns to the ground is kinda pointless.

You are completely throw off course, thinking about the temperature. Even though temperatures do reach that and beyond. Its for accelerating the process.

That is exactly what every engine looks like on the inside, even the ones I have meticulously maintained and taken apart. So the test is a perfect recreation of the conditions that lead to sludge.

Some additional info:
He is heating the oil to 400 degrees.
This should be the temperature of pistons in our 5.0 forced induction. Most likely higher.
This is where oil sits in the galleys after you turn the engine off.

Let me know how that oil flush goes and what you used.

70 bucks it's less than the oil and filter. How does that happen ?

You just revived a three year old thread. That'd be okay, but it's an OIL thread. Those can take a bad turn.

I don't care if it's one day or twenty years - the topic applies to my car and what I need for it. But hey - who really cares ?

Maybe use the SEARCH to find a thread that already HAS all the information you need instead of repeating the same thing over and over and over and over and over again???
You know, "SEARCH". It's quite a handy thing if you are able to master the intricacies of clicking a link and typing "oil" into the box that appears. Are you man enough to attempt that great feat???

"All Day"......... Wow. Five seconds of search vs. creating an entire thread all by your onesies.
Sir, you have a warped sense of self-worth, or something similar.
The Search is there for a reason, and that is to AVOID multiple threads on the same old categories.
I'm not here for a fight, just merely stating the PROPER way to use this (and all other) forums.
I hope I have enlightened you to proper etiquette, and may all your future endeavors be successful.

I think the thread was actually created in 2013.

You don't have to use the Advanced Search function on this site to find the answers to your questions. It's actually much faster to use Google.

Simply go to Google and either say or type "Jaguar X150 Forums" (don't forget the "s", there's another website without it) followed by the key words for what you want to know.

How difficult was that?

Give a hungry man a fish, and he won't be hungry for an hour. Teach him how to fish, and he'll spend the whole day in a boat drinking beer!

Build a man a fire, he'll be warm for a day
Set a man of fire, he'll be warm for the rest of his life

Our mechanic recommended going to Motul 5W/30 motor oil - they said that this was approved by JLR to help older engines with wear. Has anybody else been so guided, or have thoughts on this guidance?
