Default 5.0 xkr air filters

I've read that the xkr is sensitive to differences in filter resistances hence batch matched pairs should be purchased, where possible.

I find it slightly hard to believe this is truly a thing though why risk it. Any other opinions/experiences in not getting pair matched?

Does anyone know where I can get pair matched online? Only seen oiled filters coming in pairs and I don't want oiled.

I think that's overly pedantic. Two identical filters (same manufacturer / part number) is perfectly adequate.

I would only consider a matched pair of Purdey's as an essential accessory.

A bargain at 89,500 UKP.

Not necessarily, because there may be enough of a flow difference between different lot numbers to trigger a CEL.

That was posted more than 7 years ago in 2013. From the OE filters I've purchased in that time, I know JLR have changed supplier three times since then. May be an ongoing issue or may be resolved.

Just because advice is old, doesn't mean it isn't still valid today!

I have no problem with aftermarket engine air filters. My point is that if those filters are replaced and thereafter you get a CEL, know that the cause could be mismatched filters.

Charlton Heston? He gave crappy advice.... he told me to buy Pan American Airline stock. What a flop THAT was.

Found some Mann at a good price so I'll have a punt on those. If I get a code, I'll give jag a call.

Odd that nowhere online sells matched pairs though. Does anyone know who manufactures the OE filters? Not bosch is it?

Mine had K&N's fitted from previous owner, changed to a new set of the same at 2019 service and took the old ones and cleaned and reoiled, no issues of CEL's

That said I've a spare set of cheapy blueprint filters that would be fitted if I ever encountered an issue

Updating my previous responses, the issue of mismatched filters occurred with 4.2L XKR models. It appears that the 5.0L XKR isn't as sensitive because I searched and didn't find anyone who reported that problem.

There's only one way to find out. Install two brand new filters in your 5.0L XKR, one from Brand A and the other from Brand B and let us know.

The Jaguar part C2P16933 is stamped with "Made in Poland" and the big manufacturer in Poland is Filtron (193/3) whose products do look rather similar.
