Default Access to aircon evaporator

Hi guys ... I've established an a/c leak coming from the evaporator side of the system. Anyone can advise if the evaporator is accessible for potential replacing if I go the dash removal route (as in here ... https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...sh-how-172398/) rather than the full instrument panel removal route (the one detailed in the workshop manual with the whole steering wheel, etc, removal)? Thanks!

Sorry, no help here. I've not had to do one. Manual of course says pull the instrument panel but not sure that makes sense.

It might not be the same on our XK's, but anytime I've had to do this on other cars, it was basically "throw a grenade in" to remove the dash assembly to gain access to what must be the first part installed in the bare tub.

Yes, the dash must come out. Not too difficult but a helper's a good idea, also oodles easier with the seats out, which're very easy to remove.

Thanks guys! @jahummer , looked up procedure on whole dash removal and it does look simpler actually. I’ll use compressed air and soap to locate exact location of leak, hopefully it’s just an O-ring!
