Default Adaptive cruise control and forward alert

I'm planning on getting a clear bra install tomorrow morning. If I don't have the button for forward alert, I assume I don't have adaptive cruise control, correct? I was told that a clear bra interferes with the functioning of the adaptive cruise control. Thanks all.

I have adaptive cruise control but do not have forward alert. If you have two thumb wheels on the right side of the steering wheel you have ACC, one thumb wheel, you do not.

I believe the forward alert selector button is in the HomeLink panel above the rear view mirror.

I would have much preferred the forward alert to the adaptive cruise control.

Best regards,

Best regards,
I guess I don't have either ACC or Forward Alert. Only one thumb wheel on the right of the steering wheel, and no button for the forward alert where the gas door lock cluster is. I'm good to go. Actually, I never use cruise control anyway as I do 90% city driving. Thanks for your imput.

Jaguar steering wheel WITHOUT Active Cruise Control. The clear bra would have no effect on the front park assist. It uses a radar signal to alert the driver.

I'm puzzled because I thought that if you do have ACC, then Forward Alert was part of the package (I have both). Look down by the fuel cap release for a button with a triangle image.... that is your Forward Alert.... Pressing it presents a yellow triangle on your cluster....

As they both use the forward firing radar mounted behind the front grill. it seems odd that they would be sold separately.

Vince

BTW Clea Bra will not affect ACC , FA or front parking sensors

My mistake. I was confusing forward alert with front parking assist. Yes, I do have forward alert.

Best,

I've had a clear bra on my car and it doesn't affect adaptive cruise or ACC.
BTW the radar isn't behind the grill, its behind the strip below the front grill and above the lower grill. I found this out prior to replacing the nasty stock plastic grill with a 'proper' wire one (available from Jag but they do a great job of hiding that) as I didn't want to kill the radar by placing what amounts to a faraday cage in front of it.
Props to Jag for having apparently already thought about that in the design.

Just to clarify what JustNiz is saying -

The Adaptive Cruise Control radar unit is located behind the section of the front bumper that is in between the upper and lower grilles. Therefore, polished stainless steel or black metal upper and lower replacement grilles can be installed without affecting your Adaptive Cruise Control.

On my 2007 XK The radar unit for the adaptive cruise control is located as shown in the two attachments. I'm pretty sure of that.

Yep it turns out I (and the Jag dealer) were wrong. You're right.

The nose is currently off my car (for touch-up painting to get rid of rock chips), and I saw that what I had thought was the radar box is just a big chunk of impact-absorbing foam. The radar box is actually mounted in front of the top of the radiator, so the beam must pass through the nose just above the upper grille.

Umm, nope - park assist uses ultrasonics, not radar (ACC does use radar). I'd guess they'd cut holes in the bra for the parking sensors.
