Default After-Market wheels 0 Streets of Dallas 4

Found out the hard way that aftermarket wheels are no match for the mean streets of Dallas. 3 of my 4 rims were bent, the front two severely. Found a used set of 20" Oronas on Ebay. Had them refinished to resemble the Portfolio Oronas at my local wheel shop. I am very happy with the job they did, especially with what they had to start with. Now 4 new center caps and 20 lug nuts and 4 trips to various dealers, I am quite pleased. and the horrible vibrations have gone away.
Very Expensive lesson learned.

+1 on the roads in Dallas. When I first went there I drove my Supra. Two months later I brought it back to Atlanta and bought a $1000 sh*tbox to drive there. Now I know why it's the pickup capitol of the Earth.

Man! Have your seen the pot hole on I35 north by market center? It's a sharp hole that's at least 1ft deep.
It's on the 3rd lane so watch out.

Have not had the pleasure of exploring that one. My last bad one was a manhole cover turned upside down on Westmoreland Rd in the Cliff. it made for a perfect 5 inch deep steel re-inforced crater. Happy to report it has been fixed.

I can't believe y'all are chirping about streets in Dallas. Come on up north to "freeze-thaw cycle" country and see the shape of our roads. Thank goodness I've got a responsive ride to steer around them. Omaha's streets are brutal.

Default Wheel Constuction - Cast vs. Forged

Purari,

I'm pretty sure that your Orona wheels are cast aluminum. For much stronger OEM 20" wheels, consider the forged Vortex (XKR) and Vulcan (XKR-S) designs.

Buy a set of aftermarket wheels like "Coventry" that are made for the Jaguar brand. These are high-quality wheels and priced very attractive. You can get a nice set of 4 for under $1300

Nice wheels Purari, i have aftermarket wheels on mine for 3 years now with no issues and here in Ireland there isn't a flat piece of good tarmac, holes galore and rough road surfaces. Some aftermarket wheels are crap and some even from past experience are good. Mine are RS FUTURAS and are of good quality. A lot has to do with tyre pressure to as this will effect the rim if you do hit a hole.
