Default Air filter ! should I put an XKR-S 550cv air filter in a 4.2L 416hp?

Hi Guys, I have to change my air filters. The engine being compressed, a high performance filter can it offer something more? I think about the XKR-S filtre, they must necessarily allow a better air flow than for the 4.2L no ? In OE aftermarkets, they have the same reference for some. If not, is there any way to gain performance with specific airboxes or K&N style filters? Thank you for your feedback.

As far as I know xkrs is the same identical size and from the looks of it is of the same construction so I can't see it flowing more. Best bet is to modify a larger filter with housing from another vehicle , or you can always go kn type of filter.

Stuart this is incorrect, you can run with aftermarket filter with no problems as long as you don't mess with maf tube size. I know ppl running kn cone filters and have no issues on our cars

If a Matched Set is so imperative, wouldn't even a portion of a wayward leaf that got sucked up into one airbox and not the other create major havoc? Certainly real-world situations would preclude such a requirement. The curb-side of most roadways is a bit dirtier than the other, so that side filter would invariably get at least somewhat constricted more-so than the other. Certainly more than mismatched media.

Yes you are right . When I run diagnostic mode I can see the exact amount of air per each MAF sensor , and most of the time they are different reading by 5-10% and not identical and I get no codes.
I believe as to the maf issue cel light that others get with aftermarket large intake tubes, when upgrading to a larger tube our MAF units must be rescaled , I have this specific map and maf can be easily rescaled with it according to voltage.
