Default air vent - good enough

Sitting in my xk I always find things on a 90K+ mile car that bother me. The air vent little chrome do-dad happened to be one. Since a replacement is anywhere from 250 used to who knows how much at the dealer (if available) I figured that the car is so far from perfect that something is better than nothing.
I found a dremel bit whose diameter was pretty close to that which I though I needed. It was made of stainless so my first step was to polish it, then file one side of it flat, shorten it and glue it in place.
The end result will suffice for me.

Nice work but I think it's less of a do-dad and more a do-hickey

I think you should now pop off all the shiny bits and make them all from scratch

All that work! I just can't imagine why you wouldn't buy a new one...
