Default Anyone interested in a Cat Rescue? - XKR175

Hi,
Saw this up for auction. Sad to see this fully intact car (1 of 175) possibly go to the crusher. Possible cat rescue opportunity. Can't take this project on right now myself.

https://sca.auction/en/20572277-2011-jaguar-xkr

Hope someone will pick it up and restore.

Unfortunately, flooded cars are only good for parts.

There's some good parts there for sure. Wheels, etc... Any guesses on the hammer price?

There's also a red XKRS on that site that's even cheaper with only another day to go. Great opportunity for people wanting wheels or body panels.

Not even that, depending on what your time is worth- that's why even mechanics are not jumping on this.

But someone will liberate those parts from saltwater and sewage and put them on ebay. There are folks who work all day to liberate used bricks from mortar, and not talking about vintage bricks.

The best idea ever was pull-a-part, where the customer becomes the free employee doing the liberation.

Most Jag mechanics won't touch used or salvage Jag parts due to the potential of a call back for warranty issue. Since much of a jag repair job lies in the labor to R and R components it is not worth the risk to any repair shop to buy parts of unknown quality.

But make no bones about it. These flood cars are full of reusable parts, especially body parts and metal substructure. If the engine was not running when the water got into it then it also has a good chance of being OK. All electronics, air bags, upholstery are obviously done. If you are a hands on guy and like to play with these cars, a flood car at the right price is gold!

It's still cheap for only 1 day 20 hours left for auction. Just down the road from you, also.

Looked it up and it's a stones throw from NYC... I'd rather pound my fingers with a hammer vs. drive up there with a trailer again. Still...
