hi all. I want to buy some high-end aftermarket speakers to replace all of the factory ones in my 2007 xkr with the alpine system. I have not been able to source all of the various speaker dimensions. would anyone know all of them or have a link to where I can find them? tnx!

 

As you get dimensions, Gn4hir posted some great photos in the thread "After market amp and speakers in '07 XKR." The photos and comments will help give you some important context for the install - including some photos that clearly show the cutout dimensions and depths. Good luck.

hey man, I've seen that thread, but it still doesn't give exacts on speaker sizes. one guy says 6" and another guy says 51/4". I wish there was a way without tearing the car apart to get this info.

 

Dimensions aren't in the workshop manual, sorry.

 

I just received some used speakers from an 07 XK.
The door tweeter is dome tweeter that is 27mm in diameter and 13mm thick. It appears to snap fit into a plastic carrier that also has a capacitor and wiring connector on it. The soldered to the wiring and capacitor. The carrier twist locks into the small panel that pulls off from the door.

The door main speaker is 154mm in diameter and appears to be 70mm thick.

 

I probably should have pointed directly to Gn4hir’s photobucket link within thread (which I do below). The photos he posted show specific speaker sizes and cutout dimensions for the front component and rear speakers.

tnx mate. would I be correct in thinking that the door and rear speakers are 5-1/4"? the doors are just woofers and the rear are 2-way coaxial? any idea what the center speaker is? also, is the tweeter a 1"? sorry for all the questions.

 

In an earlier posting you said 'one guy says 6" and another guy says 51/4". '.
They may both be right, just depend on what they were measuring.
The speaker frame is 6", while the speaker and its surround is 5-1/4".
The tweeter is indeed 1".
I don't know about the rear speakers, as the set I bought off eBay (from a 2007 XK) only had 5 speakers included (2 sets of door speakers, and the center speaker).
I posted the center speaker size in your other thread (it is a 4" round single cone speaker, with outer frame dimensions ranging from 4-5/8" to 5-3/8").

I should note that the photo's posted by Gn4hir appear to show that the lower door speakers mount directly to the aluminum door, in that round cut-out. The speakers I received are mounted in a plastic carrier, that is more rectangular in shape, so I'm not sure if there was a design change at some point, or if I'm not interpreting the posted photos correctly.

Ok, so it would probably help if I read to see what I bought!
Apparently those speakers in a frame, that I thought were the lower door speakers, are actually the rear speakers! (It said so in the ad and googling the part number shows the same.) So the Gn4hir photos are no longer confusing at all.

yep! so basically, i will be ordering 2 pairs of 5-1/4's and a 4" round. for the front doors, i will order a component set with the tweeter and crossover, and for the rear i will order a 2-way co-axial. i know that the OE set-up has just a woofer in the rear, but i want to go with a 2-way to get some more "fill". i'm going with the top of the line alpine "R" series. i will post links to what i buy.....
