Default Anyone use chip guard on rockers

Some years back on my XJS I had the rocker panels painted with a chip resistant clear coat. The finish was a little wrinkled but was clear so the color came through. It was only on the rockers so the coat covered from under the rocker to about 4" up the panel. Has anyone lately had this done and if so how did it turn out. Just wondering if it's worth looking into

Default Rocker Panel Guards

I used a 'clear bra' paint protection film made by 3M. You can get a 6" wide, 60" long roll for $20 on eBay. Easy to install, easy to remove (if you'd ever want to) and works great!

Just one of several areas I had clearbra put on.
A drive over a wet mountain pass where the state used lava rock for sanding (anticipating snow), destroyed my paint low on the car, requiring a complete repaint (~$7000).
Needless to say, I put clearbra on all that new paint, including the rocker panels.

One other benefit besides piece of mind, is that they (the rocker panels) are the only place I allow a brush from a car wash to touch my car (the rest is always hand washed)... making cleaning that lower area pretty easy....

I will say that road tar is a tad harder to remove from vinyl than paint, but t does lean up when you put effort into it.

Had my car done with Suntek vinyl protection. Did the sides 12" up for road rash protection. The front fenders on the XK turn in quiet a bit on the bottom leaving little protection behind the wheels. Definitely get it done! You'll regret not getting it done!

My Lotus is half covered in Starshield from the importer. Does the trick and has remained clear. I was on the fence about ever having it applied to a car, but it's actually working out pretty well.

Hi everyone, I know this thread is a few months old. But wanted to post a pic for anyone who is considering this but is unsure. I purposely chose this pic because it was the only one where you can see the line. I used the 3m clear mask. I did it myself. It was easy but did take a little time. I did the rockers, bottom of the doors, the splash behind the rear wheels and the lip of the trunk. The car already had a clear bra on it when I got it. I am glad I did it. It is hardly noticeable except up close when the light hits it just right. I hope my attachment works
