Default AP Racing Big Brake kit for XK

I ran into a video with a XKR sporting 6 piston Calipers from AP racing. Anyone know which model calipers are these?

Probably the same as used on the Lotus Evora 400.

Are you looking for a BBK for your car?

The Alcons will fit, as well as well as the Brembo carbon ceramics from the F-Type.

Forum member pauledddy also fitted an AP kit to his.

EDIT: Actually that pic you posted looks like his car

I've been looking for Alcons. I think I have a better chance at Buying a Portfolio XKR.....lol My plans are to enjoy my XK, do upgrades as parts need replacing and eventually when the motor fails go out CRAZY. Either supercharger or Turbo.

The stock brakes are quite capable in all cases short of a race track. With capable brakes, the stopping power comes down to the stickiness of the tires.
Brake FADE and such, that's where upgraded brakes come in, but for normal driving totally not worth the $$$ unless you're just playing around and adding parts Just Cuz.

For street use the base single piston floating calipers were decent, though prone to fade under continuous heavy breaking. Switching to the Alcons took it too a whole other level even on the street.

The challenge with finding the Jaguar Alcons is not likely the calipers as I see those frequently appear on eBay, but the brackets to fit them to the knuckles. Seems when breakers pull these from cars they must just pull the caliper and leave the brackets behind. And Jaguar no longer has them available for supply, at least not the last time I checked a couple of years ago.

The newer Brembo F-type kits however appear frequently in the UK for very reasonable prices. If I hadn’t gone with the Alcons, I would have preferred the CCs.

Note that the Alcon Performance Brake Package was standard equipment for one year only - on the 2008 XKR Portfolio models (Celestial Black exterior with Cremona wheels). Alcons became a $5,000 option on the 2009 XKR Portfolio models (Shadow Gray exterior with Selena wheels), which is why most 2009 models don't have Alcons.

You're better off finding an XKR with Alcons than trying to retrofit them.

@badicedog Inexpensive Alcon rotors (thanks to @jahummer ) were available from Centric in 2016. I bought a set and they're on my XKR now with no problems. See:
https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...-cheap-171582/

It appears that some are still available. I haven't researched this further, and suggest that you call Parts Geek and see if they have them for front and rear. This is their front rotor, and it's only $106.97!

Of course, you'll need mounting brackets and other parts to do the conversion. It's not a simple swap.

Good luck!

New? Used? Which style? Forged?

How do you know they'll fit over the Alcons? If you currently have an OEM spare tire (donut), it won't fit over the Alcons. Lots of details you probably weren't aware of. Are you sure you want to do this?

Alcons were first fitted to the 2008/09 XKR-S - limited to 200 units, the USA portfolio spec got some of the XKR-S bits like the brakes - The XKR-S is rare, when you select your vehicle here there is no option but the later facelift XKR-S

This car is a machine, I was a couple of years looking out for one and I will keep it as long as I can

My non portfolio 2009 XKR came with Alcons. Not sure how many were sold with Alcons. Doing a VIN search on my vehicle does not state Alcons or not.

The XKR-S of mine was the first model fitted with Alcon brakes, they were an option after this on other Jaguar XKs along with the forged vortex wheels and the larger rear spoiler.

I want to express my gratitude to all that have contributed to my project on the Alcon brake upgrade. I will be documenting my progress step by step and suppliers I used for misc parts through the process.

I'll be following with great interest. And when you get done and are experienced, maybe I'll bring mine by

Starting project first thing 8am tomorrow. I've gathered all the required parts, Alcon calipers, brake pads, mounting brackets, correct front and rear rotors and DOT 4 brake fluid (complete flush and replace).
